Updated Appropriate Use Criteria for Amyloid and Tau PET: A Report from the Alzheimer’s Association and Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Workgroup

This document integrates extensive literature published over the past decade that examined the diagnostic and prognostic value of amyloid PET in longitudinal clinical cohorts and observational studies; evaluated the clinical utility of amyloid PET for patient diagnosis, management, and health outcomes; further validated the diagnostic validity of amyloid PET in prospective PET to- autopsy studies; and used amyloid PET in AD clinical trials, including for the development of amyloid-targeting antibodies that recently received approval from the U.S. FDA for the treatment of early clinical stages of AD.
